The Danger of a Single Story | Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie | TED Talks

Today, for #IWD2016, my team watched this 19-min TED talk given by novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in 2009. Titled, "The danger of a single story", Adichie speaks of the danger of having only a single story of a person, a people (or by extension, a situation) -- and the grave misunderstanding and missed opportunity that likely leads to.

If you have 19-mins to reflect and be inspired, I recommend giving this a go. It may remind you to take a pause before you transgress with a stereotype. (We're all guilty of this -- we're human, after all.)

"Stories matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity."
