Donald Rumsfeld with Saddam Hussein

In 1983, Donald Rumsfeld met with Saddam Hussein -- not long after Iraq used mustard gas on Iranian troops, civilians and Kurds, in the Persian Gulf War -- a war that became the longest running conventional war in modern times, resulting in over a million dead. The meeting was a sign of restored diplomatic relations between the US and Iraq -- the US at the time were not happy with the newly minted Islamic Republic of Iran. The war eventually ended in a stalemate. The resulting political ramifications however, led to the second Persian Gulf War, in which, in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, the US led a multinational force that decimated Iraq's military, pushing them out of Kuwait.

Fast forward to today. Hussein has now been sentenced to death for crimes against humanity -- that's what he was doing when he was using chemical weapons against Iranians and Kurds, for which the Americans, via Rumsfeld, was congratulating him for. The trial is a result of an American invasion of Iraq to eliminate Iraq's WMD (aka chemical weapons), which deposed Saddam and led to the US supervised trial to convict Saddam of murdering Iranians. At the same time, the Americans are just not getting along with Iran, with some believing that if the mess in Iraq can be cleaned up quickly, an invasion of Iran will follow.

OK, bad guys are bad guys. They deserve what they get. But what about the likes of Rumsfeld? With friends like that, it's not your enemies you have to be afraid of.

Macaca

You gotta wonder, just what was going through Senator George Allen's head when he made the insulting racial remark ... in case you're not aware, 20-year-old Shekar Ramanuja Sidarth, was working for Allen's opponent, trailing around the campaigning Allen, filming him. It's a common practice, and Allen has his own cameraman following his opponent, Webb, around. Things got interesting recently, when at a rally, Allen made the following comments in reference to Sidarth:
This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca, or whatever his name is, he's with my opponent. He's following us around everywhere. And it's just great. We're going to places all over Virginia, and he's having it on film, and it's great to have you here, and you show it to your opponent because he's never been there and probably will never come so it's good for him to see what it's like out here in the real world. So welcome, let's give a welcome to Macaca here! Welcome to America, and the real world of Virginia!
Macaca means monkey, and is a racial slur used in reference to immigrants. Ironically, Sidarth is American -- of Indian descent -- and was born in Virginia -- unlike Allen.

Police Using Rubber Bullets

Watch it, then make up your own mind. Police brutality? Ignorance? The coming of the police state? Or just what happens when you give people guns? More disturbing perhaps is some of the comments at YouTube. Comments include ... From user DarbyFett: Haha that bitch got owned From user outofalignment: Why are they wasting thier time using rubber bullets? From user wkh88: hahahahaha pigs laying the smack down on faggot nigger-loving commie scum From user dajini: Well if they had a permit and the protestors were behaving themselves this would be fine. I bet they didn't have a permit and the lady was just asking for it anyways. The first shot on the lady in the leg wasn't even that bad that was like a paintball lol. America would be a police state if these were real bullets being fired at these protestors but they aren't. They're just rubber bullets. When they finally come for them ... they will probably wonder why it's happening to them and not someone else ... why not one is there standing up for their rights.

Jon Stewart Presents the Opportunities of the Middle East War

The turmoil in the Middle East isn't spiraling out of control to the inevitable mushroom cloud ... oh no ... according to the latest from the Bush Administration, what the Middle East is experiencing are the birth pangs of a brand new tomorrow, a tomorrow that is being presented today as opportunities, every time a bomb drops or a civilian falls. Surprisingly, the people of the Middle East also see the opportunities that the Bush Administration speaks of -- just as the American people saw the opportunities that presented themselves when the twin towers got leveled in the 9/11 attacks. Opportunities.

Questioning Israel

Here in North America, especially in the US, we continue to temper any criticism of Israel. The reason is simple. The Jews have suffered, and suffered. WWII saw a world sitting on the sidelines until it was too late -- sitting while the Jews were systematically being wiped out as a people. The world had no excuse.

The tables have turned today, however. The Jewish state is powerful, well armed and have friends. Friends who are now sitting by as innocents are being killed in the hunt for the few. Fighting terror has become such a fashionable excuse to justify the murder of innocents. If we continue to let this happen, how different does it make us from the terrorists we seek to destroy? How different is Israel really from Lebanon or Palestine? When will the killing stop?

YouTube

Well, the DMCA has bitten me, and as a result, my YouTube account has been terminated. After the many videos -- mostly movie trailers -- that I've uploaded. I don't blame YouTube for this, they're doing the CYA thing. I blame the movie studios. I was busily promoting their films -- sharing the material they produced to market their movies. This could have resulted in only one thing -- more sales for them. Instead, they've decided in their wisdom that they would rather not have more sales. I don't get it. It's copystupidity.

Elephants Dream

Elephants Dream is a fantastic little tale, told in 3D CG animation from the Orange Project and the Blender Foundation. The details of the plot, characters, setting, etc., while interesting, is not as interesting as the project itself. Elephants Dream is an open source project developed by a small group of artists and animators from around the world. The project used open source software, and released their short film via BitTorrent, using a Creative Commons license. What's more cool than that?

Or does she surround herself with people who keep telling her she's smart?

Fox News: Comedy Central's South Park: Hypocrites, Bigots and Racists

Ah ... the truth was buried in here. Not too deep, but even so, it wasn't explored. Let's face it -- Muslims call for beheadings when insulted. They go out and kill people when their Prophet is dissed. On the other hand, Christians quietly get offended; or voice concerns and move on; or laugh quietly when no one is watching. South Park picks on those they are not afraid of. What's the worse that can happen to them if they pick on Christians? Exactly. What's the worse that can happen to them if they pick on Muslims? Exactly. So, don't pick on Muslims, because you're afraid they will kill you. Beneath all of this however is what Bill Donahue advocates ... the arming of the Christian right. If you listen carefully, you can hear his little inner voice screaming at Christians to get off their asses and call for beheadings as well. South Park is offensive. The show is without a moral compass. But they have the right to go on the air because America is the land of the free. They have constitutional protection. Going the route of the Muslim fanatics is not the answer. Beneath this issue is the scary truth that the Christian right advocates the methods of the Muslim fanatics -- threaten to kill people if they don't stop dissing Christ.
